Nano ‘resonators’ form tiny logic gate

California Institute of Technology researchers have developed a nanoscale “resonator” that could form the building blocks of the logic gates for an electromechanical computer.

In experiments, a voltage as low as 5 nanovolts – the equivalent of the charge on a single electron – was sufficient to drive the device.
