Intel plans to announce a family of microprocessor chips on Monday that it says will lead to high-resolution, full-screen quality that will begin to compete with the living room HDTV.
The chips, code-named Penryn, will use a re-engineered 45-nanometers transistor that is about half the size of its predecessor, and that switches more quickly, requires less switching power, and leaks less current.
