Researchers at the Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology have built a robotic exoskeleton suit designed to help elderly Japanese farmers with heavy lifting or other strenuous tasks.

The suit has eight motors to help with knee, elbow, lower-back and shoulder movement, and can be programmed to match the type of work being done. The current cost of the suit is 1 million yen ($9,250), but the designers expect the cost to be one fifth of that with mass production.
