New Brain Connections Form Rapidly During Motor Learning

New synpases begin to form between neurons in the motor cortex within one hour of the start of training as animals learn a new task, faster than previously believed, University of California, Santa Cruz researchers have found.

The research may help neuroscientists understand the process that takes place after a stroke, when patients have to relearn how to do certain things, and may suggest ways to speed up the recovery process.
