Best Microscopic Images of 2008 Announced

The 2008 Small World Photomicrography Competition has announced winners of a contest to select the ten best microscopic images.
Second-place winner, "Nanotube Factory," by Paul Marshall of Canada's Institute for Microstructural Sciences, shows glowing-hot carbon nanotubes, heated by lasers, electricity, or the Sun (Paul Marshall/National Research Council Canada/Nikon Small World)
