Some fans believe James Cameron and colleagues may have finally crossed the “uncanny valley” (reality credibility barrier) with their 3-D science-fiction thriller “Avatar” movie, due out in December.

Dr. Mario Mendez, a behavioral neurologist at the University of California, Los Angeles, School of Medicine, said it’s possible Cameron’s work could tap brain systems that are undisturbed by conventional 2-D movies.
