A confidential, seven-pageĀ Google Inc. “vision statement” shows Google in a deep round of soul-searching over a basic question: How far should it go in profiting from the vast trove of data it possesses about people’s activities by audience targeting without violating privacy?
The memo outlined a sweeping vision in which Google could get other websites from around the Internet to share their data with it for the purpose of targeting ads.
