Google announced on Tuesday an agreement with a broad class of authors, publishers, and library partners that will give U.S. readers digital access to millions of in-copyright books.

It will also make free, full-text, online viewing of millions of out-of-print books available in U.S. public and university libraries, and will create a new market for authors and publishers to sell their works.

Under the agreement, Google will make payments totaling $125 million.
