Statistical Machine Translation (SMT)technology will improve dramatically in 2010, creating more demand for language services and increasing productivity by a factor of 10 by mixing automated translation processes with human post-editing, says technology forecaster Renato Beninatto of Gerson Lehrman Group.
“Machine Translation quality provided by SMT providers like Google (free), Language Weaver (mostly for government users), and Asia Online (newcomer/disruptor) is improving by leaps and bounds, especially because these are “learning systems” that improve with usage.”
