A team at Manchester Royal Infirmary hospital claims to be the first surgeons to perform keyhole surgery using 3D cameras, monitors, and spectacles.
3D vision provides depth perception, better accuracy, and reduced surgeon fatigue, according to the team.
They also used a Kymerax precision-drive articulating surgical system, a keyhole (laparoscopic), motorized device that provides haptic feedback to the surgeon.
