University of Groningen scientists have designed a lightweight structure that could safely store 6.1 per cent of its weight in hydrogen for use in fuel cells to power phones, laptops, and cars.

The design uses billions of carbon buckyballs (to be replaced by nanotubes) sandwiched between sheets of graphene.
